From Buddha

According to the Buddha, we will experience these vicissitudes throughout our lives, no matter what our intentions or actions:
pleasure and pain
gain and loss
praise and blame
fame and disrepute

So get busy living! Be kind to yourself, stop trying to be perfect or right or better and simply let yourself be.

Testimonials:
“Source Teacher Training is absolutely life-changing! It has made me a better human being – more confident, more resilient, more communicative, and more participatory in my community. The instructors are incredible: as a student, you benefit from their many years of experience as practictioners and instructors, but, additionally, all the teachers were adept at training or teaching how to teach. I liked that each teacher employed several tools during their modules – handouts, demonstrations, various media – to make each session interactive and avoid information overload. The comprehensive range of topics and the amount of time required to practice teaching equipped me with the knowledge and skills to teach yoga, but most importantly, to live it! Yes, the time and money is significant but the returns on your investment are truly beyond measure.” -Maren

“The urge to get my teacher training certification built like a wave over the course of a decade, reaching its apex one foggy evening on holiday in San Francisco, when I cut an evening out short to rush to a computer to fill out the application. Epiphany-fueled compulsion aside, I wasn’t completely sure what I was getting myself into or what would come of it, but I knew I wanted more yoga in my life, and I knew Source would lead me down the right path.

Months after I received my 200-hour certification from Source, the teachings of Nicole and all of the talented, kind, intelligent yogis who imparted their wisdom throughout the six-month training continue to influence my life every single day, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. My yoga practice on the mat has improved exponentially, and I was able to get in touch with a spirituality and wholeness that has brought me an overarching sense of peace – not to mention a new career! But most notably, and most surprisingly to me, I learned how to take the philosophy and spirituality of yoga off the mat and into the rest of my life. With a lot of work, and a lot of help, I gained greater access to intuition, personal relationships improved, and physical and emotional issues I’ve struggled with for years began to heal.

With the guidance I received over those intense weekends, I found a true passion. The training I received fully prepared me to become a yoga teacher, and I’m so proud to be able to share that with yogis at Source and other studios in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York.

There was never any question in my mind of where I wanted to complete my yoga teacher training, and I wholeheartedly believe anyone, regardless of intent or ability, will achieve better understanding of yoga, themselves and their place in this world by taking any or all of the teacher training workshops at Source.”

Words For The Soul

We are living in a world where chemicals have more rights than kids. Where cancer is as

common as colds. Where governments are co-opted by the food, chemical and medical

industries. Where these industries thwart initiatives for healthy living that threaten their

revenue streams yet save lives. It is time for us to put all of this to an end. It is our God

given right to be healthy and only we can make it happen.

Reclaiming Our Health is a grass-roots movement that facilitates healthy, disease-free living

by eliminating chemicals from our diet. We have no spokespeople. We boycott no companies.

We petition no government entities. All that we do is act. We simply stop eating processed

food. It is that simple. All of the insanity will end with this one simple act.

The success of this unstoppable movement will yet again prove that a single individual can

change the world. That would be you. Forward this email far and wide and watch us regain

the thriving, healthy way of life that humans once enjoyed on this planet.

Tonite! Kirtan @ Source

Kirtan! 7pm by donation. All are welcome! Organized and Produced by Kabir, accompanied by Aparna Khanolkar, Bowie Jaffee and Kristen Spalding (you never know what kind of musical masters will show up, always special guest appearances are made.

My 1st Ecstatic Kirtan was with Dave Stringer @ The Unitarian Church here in SB. It was there that I experienced the magic of Kirtan. An expression of Joy and Love and a Devotion to that love and joy so deep, I had not yet experienced, not quite like this…..The first time I experienced kirtan was with Krishna Das. It was this sweet lullaby experience tender, gentle, healing, beautiful. But it was Dave who inspired me to host Kirtans, our first Kirtan was a blessed night who knows how many years ago, Daniela was there and we were dancing and singing with wild abandon, letting it lift us higher and higher….I love that wild abandon but am skeptical of anyone who thinks they can “guide” you there….how can we be guided to wild abandon? Wild abandon cannot be produced, or reproduced. And sure we can try, there have been times during any dance where I want that, want it so bad I can taste it, but it just does not come. Connection…..missed. And then there are those times that it happens and what a miracle, magic does exist, somehow, somewhere. Is it the music? The people? The place? The ways the stars are lining up with the planets? That Venus trines my moon? That at that exact moment some divine portal at 7:11pm that evening opened? Who Knows? Who cares! What I do know for sure? In order to experience this wondrous element of converging sensations, I have to show up. Open to the possibilities, surrendered to the fact that I don’t know, that it’s actually more fun not to know, and let it take me…I encourage this experience for all and believe it’s possible, even you even you jaded cynical know it alls, trust me, from someone who likes to know everything and actually believes she does, it’s more fun to know nothing! Life is my Guru.
