I’m so excited to host Michael Holmes for this special workshop, you may remember him as Michael Blossom, from way back in the early yoga days, He and his brother Scott both taught at Santa Barbara Yoga Center for Years.
“Love is the essential reality and our purpose on earth. To be consciously aware of it , to experience love in ourselves and others, is the meaning of life.” – Marianne Williamson
Harmonized in the breath, the body, heart, and mind work together. The stormy weather inside us turns into a lovely tropical storm or a mellow golden September early evening. Life is good. Simply good.
Each breath is a chance to feel and know this and, suddenly, in this greater peace, greater possibilities for both life and death come into view. The possibility of being able to love life and honor death as simply the breath of a greater being and brilliance and joy.
Greater possibilities within a greater context, in which our most humble and practical actions are filled with the same light as our more extraordinary turns, is what hatha yoga and the larger eight limbed yogic path can open for us. We become that gentle breeze for ourselves and others- people rooted in a gentle light and simple grace thanks to the down-to-earth genius within our yoga practice.
Once rooted and awakened, we can more deeply reflect on
why hatha yoga is ideally suited to help prepare us to make a commitment to love our highest priority in any situation
what other work and play is most important to support us in our commitment to love
what relationships support us in this commitment and what relationships are asking for healing
what sources of wisdom are out there to support us in this commitment
With a commitment to love as the organizing principle, our yoga practice expands to include all our activities and relationships as we fulfill the greater promises of the tradition.
